Between May 21st and May 23rd, Winne Eley, vice-president of our friendly cooperation Newcastle University and Tommy Lin, director of Greater China Region program of International Office visited XPU and signed comprehensive cooperation agreement.

On the morning of May 22nd, President Gao Yong and Vice-president Li Pengfei met our guests in VIP room in Jinhua campus. People in charge of International Office, Graduate School, College of Electronic and Information, College of Apparel and Art Design, of Management College and College of Art and Engineering attended the meeting.

During the meeting, they further discussed over programs of teachers exchange, students’ communication and scientific cooperation. Both sides follow the principle of equality and sincerity and the pragmatic and creative spirit, to promote broad and in-depth communications and cooperation. They reached an agreement on holding the China-foreign cooperatively-teaching program in Electronic and Information major and Creative Art and Design major. Relevant work will be started in the near future. On behalf of the schools, Winne Eley and Gao Yong signed comprehensive cooperation agreement.

Subsequently guests visited Fashion-culture Creative Industry Park. Executive deputy director of innovation center and Vice-president Li Pengfei introduced the park’s establishment ideas, distinct advantages and goals to visitors. They also visited designer studio and students’ creative exhibition. Combination of theoretical study and practice, common development of cultural fashion and enterprises’ industry, and perfect connection of design and market demand, those creative ideas and platform impressed visitors deeply.

On the afternoon of May 22nd, Winne Eley and our Vice-president Li Pengfei attended relevant activities in the symposium about education cooperation among countries along the Silk Road economic belt held by Department of Education of Shaanxi Province, as XPU is a member of Universities Alliance of the New Silk Road (UANSR).

On May 23rd, Winne Eley attended the Silk Road Educational Cooperation Symposium and Cultural Festival of Foreign Students along the Silk Road, which was held in Xi’an Jiaotong University, with the company of staffs in International Office. Representatives from two universities discussed with other representatives present and foreign students deeply. By doing so, they introduced international exchange and cooperation as well as foreign students work comprehensively.

Newcastle University is a comprehensive and international university, which is located in Newcastle, Australia. There are two main campuses. The bigger one is the Callaghan campus, 12 kilometers away from the center of Newcastle; the other one lied between Newcastle and Sydney. It opens School of Education and Literature, School of Business and Law, School of Science and Information Technology, School of Engineering and Built Environment and School of nursing for students.

It is said that prof. Frank Millward, dean of School of Creative Art will visit XPU from June 1st to June 4th.
