The 2018 China Robot Competition, sponsored by the China Automation Society, the Automation Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and the Yibin Municipal people Government, was held in Yibin City, Sichuan Province from August12th to 16th. With the strong support of theAcademic Affairs Office andthe active organization ofthe Engineering Training Center, six teams composed of 11 students from the Telecommunication Institute and the Mechanical and Electrical College participated in three major events and four minor events, who weresupervisedby their teachers, Zhi Shuangshuang and Chen Bo. After three days of fierce competition, XPUwon the runner-up, thirdplace, first prize,twosecond prizes, and third prize. This result was the greatest achievement of XPU in the Chinarobot competition.

The China Robot Competition is one of the most influential and highly skilled robot competitions in China at present. The contest attractedmore than 1,400 teams and 4,000 teachers and students from 267universities of 30 provinces and autonomous regionsand municipalities directly under the Central Government to attend. Basketball robot, service robot, martial arts competition, underwater robot, aerial robot and other 17 “land, water and air” projects have been set up in the contest, with a total of 48 sub-projects. The contest produced a total of 44 champions, 43 runner-up, and 42third places. China’shigh-level double-class universities gather in this event, sothe contest technical level and difficulty are the first-classin China.

In recent years, according to the construction idea of “distinctive characteristics, complete function, advanced facilities, safe tyand civilization and high openness”, the Engineering Training Center pays attention to “four combinations” and takes “innovation-driven development” as the idea. Actively carrying out the “multi-dimensional” project practice innovation talent training platform construction, carrying out three-dimensional, personalized, multi-level engineering practice innovation education, boldly reforming the discipline competition organization idea and method, strengthening the competition management, Openingall equipment, providing all possibilities, the Center creates good development and production conditionsfor students so that good scientific and technological competition results have beenobtained yearly. We will continue to adhere to the concept of “promoting learning by competition and promoting creativity by competition”, and continue doing a good job in the basic work of teaching and training, and in the construction and management of innovative education platforms.
