On April 2nd, Fiona Waldron, Dean of School of Textile and Design, Heriot-Watt University, Wang Zhongyi, Director of China&East Asia Office, and Huang Tianyi, commissioner of the office, jointly visited XPU. Gao Ling, President of XPU, and other relative department leaders had a meeting with the visitors.

Firstly, Gao Ling warmly welcomed Fiona and her delegation. He said that the cooperation between the two sides was soundfor a long period, especially discipline and majors set in two universities were highly compatible. He hoped that both sides would enrich the forms of cooperation and deepen cooperation in scientific cooperation, academic exchanges and talent training. Gao Ling expressed that XPU welcomed professors from Herit-Watt University to gave lectures to students and conduct researches or exchange teaching concepts with XPU’s staff. It was also expected that the two sides could innovate cooperation mode to share resource and achieve advantage complementarity in the future.

Fiona highly agreed with Gao Ling’s ideas on seeking new cooperating areas and broadening the cooperation. She proposed that the two universities should promote the academic exchange and talent cultivation through scholar visiting and students exchange. Meanwhile, she was expected to visit XPU in June to sign a new cooperation agreement between two sides.
