On December 2, 2017, Xingang Cup·The 16th Xi'an International Furniture Design Awards ceremony was held in the Northwest Furniture Industrial Park. The competition presented Outstanding Design Instructors Award, Creative Individual Gold Award, Design Gold Award, Excellent Design Award, etc.

Lou Hangxing, a graduate student led by Prof. Zhang Awei, won the Gold Award for Creation. Undergraduates Wu Xiaoyan and other undergraduates led by Associate Prof.Zhang Xiaoping won the Excellent Design Award. Meanwhile, three teachers, namely Zhang Xiaoping, Zhang Awei and Sun Wei, won the Outstanding Design Instructors Award.
