On the afternoon of September 22nd, Lee Astheimer, executive vice president of the board of Melbourne Institute of Technology(MIT), and Tim·Gilbert from the International Office of MIT visited XPU. President Gao Ling had a meeting with the delegation in the Guest Room of Jinhua Campus. Heads of International Office and Sino-Australian School attended the meeting.
President Gao Ling extended welcome to the delegation. He said that MIT is a trustful partner of XPU with a long history in cooperation. Considering the higher education development background, the increasing international exchange, and XPU’s developmental trend, President Gao Ling put forward that XPU should not only maintain the features and advantages but also strengthen international communication which includes cooperation with other universities, enterprises in technology development and talent exchange, foreign experts introducing to XPU. He suggested that the two schools should widen the cooperation fields to make more achievement based on the present cooperation.
Lee Astheimer thanked the arrangement of the meeting. She introduced the talents cultivation mode of IMT, especially in how to combine academic courses studying with companies’ requirement, hoping the talents cultivated by the two schools would meet the need of society and economy development.
The two parties discussed on joint high education program, foreign experts introducing program, and students’ exchange, and also talked about the idea of co-construct of Confucius Institute.
