In the afternoon of March 18,2016, Kaye Jujnovich , dean of School of Arts of Whitireia New Zealand, and her colleague, Chi Meijian, deputy minister of International Department, visited XPU. President Gao Yong had a meeting with the visiting guests in the guest room of Jinhua Campus. Principals in charge of International Office, School of Apparel and Art Design, School of Art Engineering and teacher representatives attended the meeting.
At the beginning, President Gao Yong extended a warm welcome to the visiting guests, and then he introduced the XPU’s school-running characteristics and personnel training mode to the guests. In the meeting ,he said,“XPU began with a college with textile characteristic and now has developed into a comprehensive university. And the subject of apparel of XPU has covered the whole industrial chain from pattern design to apparel marketing and played a vital role in the apparel industry. In recent years, the employment rate of art-major graduates has been increasing year by year due to the implement of ‘combination of art and industry ’of XPU model. New Zealand is not only famous with its unique national culture and beautiful natural scenery but also renowned as the important wool production base in the world. I am hoping both two universities could benefit from the artistic communication through converging cultures and arouse creative inspiration of teachers and students of both universities on the basis of practical cooperation.”
Kaye Jujnovich expressed that the exchange and cooperation between two universities run smoothly and there is more room for the inter-university cooperation in the field of academic exchange and duel-degree education.
After the meeting, the visiting group also visited Fashion Creative Industrial Park in Jinhua Campus.
Whitireia New Zealand is one of the most important partner institutes of XPU in New Zealand. In the past years, the relationships between the two universities have been greatly strengthened by teacher exchange.
