On May 1st, XPU Outdoor Team won the second place in the male professional group, the third and fourth places in the female professional group, and the second to sixth places in the general group in the 2020-2021 National Ski Orienteering Challenge.
Ski orienteering is a combination of cross country skiing and orienteering. In the competition, participants use maps to navigate a dense net of ski trails and visit the elected points in the correct order, who use the shortest time win. After receiving the notice of the competition, XPU organized a team with 30-people that actively preparing and training hard, and finally achieved good results through the spirit of hard work, unity and cooperation, demonstrating the demeanor of XPU.
The competition is sponsored by the Air Traffic Management Center of the State Sports General Administration, China Radio and Orienteering Association, and undertaken by Shaanxi Provincial Winter Sports Management Center and other units. Centering on the themes of "Happy Ice and Snow, Healthy China", "Inspiring the Chinese Dream, Happy Ice and Snow Tour", it is one of the national ski orienteering competitions after Jingyuetan Station, Fangshan Station and Panshi Station. The event aims to promote the majority of skiing enthusiasts to participate in ice and snow events, enter and enjoy the fun of ice and snow, provide a broader stage for college students to participate in ice and snow sports.
The competition is divided into four events: professional men's group, professional women's group, public group and parent-child group. It attracted a total of 188 participating athletes from Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan and Shaanxi provinces. Among the professional players are both national and provincial cross country skiing . There are also members who have just participated in the ski orienteering trial for the 30th World University Winter Games at the beginning of the year.
