On October 26th, the Hongkong Samma Foundation Awards Ceremony was held at Jiangnan University in 2018. Four academicians, including Hong Kong Sangma Foundation, members of Hong Kong Cha's Textile Group, leaders of relevant associations and departments of the Chinese textile industry, Zhou Xiang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and nearly 300 leaders, experts and award-winning personnel from seven textile universities attended the award ceremony. Vice-President Fan Zenglu of XPU led the team, the personnel department and the relevant person in charge of the student work department. Professor Wang Chen and scholarship winners represented Ma Yanqiang at the award ceremony.
Chen Jian, President of Jiangnan University, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice President of China Education Accounting Association, Ni Daoqian, former Vice President of Jiangsu Education Department, Wang Yusheng, Director of Cha's Textile Group in Hong Kong, President of China Textile Industry Federation and Sun Ruizhe, President of China Textile Engineering Society, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. In 2018, the "Mulberry and Hemp Scholars" Award was established. Since 2019, the Mulberry and Hemp Scholars'Award will be replaced by the Mulberry and Hemp Textile Science and Technology Award. Four Mulberry and Hemp Scholars' Awards will be selected annually, each scholar will be awarded 200,000.
Wang Tiankai, former chairman of China Textile Industry Federation, read the winners list of Hongkong Sam Ma foundation in 2018. In 2018, two scholars, Professor Xiao Changfa of Tianjin University of Technology and Professor Xu Weilin of Wuhan Textile University, were honored as mulberry and hemp scholars. In addition, the Hong Kong Mulberry Foundation has decided to award seven honorary scholars of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ji Guobiao and Yao Mu, in recognition of the outstanding achievements and significant contributions made by academicians in the textile industry over a long period of time.
In 2018, the Sangma Textile Science and Technology Award of the Hong Kong Sangma Foundation won 11 awards, 45 teachers were awarded the Sangma Prize and 377 students were awarded the Sangma Scholarship. Among them, Wang Chen, School of Materials Engineering, Cao Min, School of Marxism, Feng Jinjun, School of Science, Ding Dong, School of Management, Li Qing, School of Environment and Chemical Engineering, and Ma Yanqiang, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, won 45 fellowships and fellowships in 2018.
