On the afternoon of October 30th, Prof. Casimir d’Angelo from Cambridge University gave a report about “Culture Awareness and Intercultural Communication” in the Lecture Hall of the library in Lintong campus of XPU. The lecture was hosted by Lily Chen, vice-director of International Office. Teachers and students from School of Humanities and Social Science, School of Management School attended the report.
Prof. Casimir d’Angelo discussed culture, culture awareness, and intercultural communication through vivid examples. Starting from his experience, he elicited the notion of culture, and interpreted the culture difference among various countries from social distance, views of time, social etiquettes, non-verbal communication, which enables the listeners to have a better understanding on various cultures.
Prof. Casimir d’Angelo patiently answered the questions from students in the last part. This report widens the horizon of teachers and students in XPU, promoting them to improve their culture awareness and culture sensitivity, also their intercultural competence.
