On the morning of November 18th, the multi-party meeting on teachers and students working together to build a better campus was held in Conference Room 226, Administration Building, Lintong Campus. Zhao Xiaofeng, deputy secretary of XPU CPC party committee, and Zhu Yongmin, vice president, attended the meeting.
Heads from Department of Publicity, Student Affairs Office, Graduate Students Affair Office, Logistic Affairs Office, Security and Safeguard Office, School Hospital, Youth League Committee, deputy secretary of the party committee of the relevant colleges had a face to face meeting with 10 student representatives.
Zhao Xiaofeng first introduced the original intention of the meeting. He said that XPU has always adhered to the student-oriented management, cared for and served students in their daily study and life. The purpose of the meeting is to strengthen the communication and exchanges between the school’s party and government leaders, functional departments and the students, and establish a working platform for regularly reporting and solving problems, forming a normalized information feedback mechanism as well. The theme of this meeting is the service for campus life. In the follow-up, relevant departments will organize meetings with student representatives around the topics of teaching, funding, scientific research, and network construction that students care about, and try to help students solve problems and support what they need.
10 student representatives from the School Youth League and student union gave speeches on the problems encountered in various aspects such as canteen dining, dormitory environment, campus facilities, campus transportation, security work and campus medical treatment, etc. They also proposed solutions and plans for specific projects, giving advice on school development. Participants listened carefully to the speech of each student. The heads of the Logistic Affairs Office, Security and Safeguard Office, School Hospital and other departments answered the questions that the students were concerned about, and promised to provide service actively, promptly and efficiently. At the meeting, Liu Tingting, deputy secretary of School Youth League Committee, also introduced the student information feedback mechanism.
Zhu Yongmin, Vice President, expressed his praise and gratitude to the students for their active participation in all aspects of the school’s development and put forward reasonable suggestions. He fully affirmed that the opinions and suggestions of the student representatives, who have showed the sense of being a master of the university. He said that the suggestions have provided ideas and direction for the school development. Teachers and students in XPU are in the community with shared future. Only by working together can we have a better campus. He hopes that all departments will go into the front line, conduct serious investigations, further effectiveness of their work, strictly implement their responsibilities, and continuously improve the quality of campus life services. At the same time, he hoped that the School Youth League Committee and student union will continue to play a good role as a bridge to improve information collection and feedback.
This meeting is an effective carrier to explore students’ participation in the democratic governance of the university. It is a concrete practice to give full play to the bridging role of the Youth League Committee and student union. In the future, the school will continue to focus on the voices of students and serve the growth of students. The normalized communication between schools and students will continue to be improved.
