On November 21, Shaoxing Annual Meeting of XPU Hangzhou Bay Alumni Association and the Textile Industry Innovation Forum of “Fang Gu Technology” was held in the Oriental Landscape Hotel in Keqiao district, Shaoxing. Nearly 300 people attended the annual meeting, including Ma Bin, the full-time vice-chairman of China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CASME), Jiang Ping, a professor of Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, Zhou Zhigang, a member of the Standing Committee and the Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Keqiao district, Ma Wanqing, Secretary of XPU CPC Committee , Li Pengfei, the executive vice-chairman of Alumni Association and vice-president of XPU, Zhao Xiaofeng, the vice-chairman and deputy secretary of the Alumni Association, heads of Domestic Cooperation and the Alumni Office, Development and Planning Office, Science and Technology Transformation Center for Achievements, President Office, School of Materials Science and Engineering etc as well as chairmen, secretaries and representatives of local alumni associations from Shanghai, Beijing, Hongkong, Macao, Jiangsu Province, Shaanxi Province etc.  

The event was divided into two parts: the annual work report of the alumni association and the high-level forum. The annual meeting started with the blessing video of alumni associations from different places at 10 a.m.. All the attendees singed XPU anthem together.

Firstly, Shen Kaifang the chairman of Hangzhou Bay Alumni Association and a Product program alumnus in class of 1990, gave a report on the work of Hangzhou Bay Alumni Association since its establishment. By linking XPU and Keqiao district government, Hangzhou Bay Alumni Association led to the establishment of XPU Keqiao Textile Industry Innovation Research Center and found a new model of cooperation between XPU and regions with advanced textile industry. Shen mentioned that an alumni planned and constructed high-tech park which covers an area of over 30 mu (or 2 hectares) would come into service in several years. At that time, the park would make greater contribution to XPU in terms of cultivating innovative talents and striving for being a high-level university. Then representatives of alumni associations from different areas came to stage to express greetings.

On behalf of teachers and students of XPU, Ma Wanqing, the Secretary of XPU CPC Committee, addressed the meeting. He spoke highly of the work achievements of Hangzhou Bay Alumni Association. He said that the XPU Keqiao Textile Industry Innovation Research Institute jointly constructed by XPU and Keqiao district of Shaoxing brought about in-depth cooperation and common development between the university, localities and alumni, contributed wisdom and strength to the regional economic and social development and further enhanced XPU’s popularity in Hangzhou Bay area. He pointed out that the year 2020 is a decisive year for China to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and achieve its first centenary goal. For XPU, 2020 is the year of the completion of the 13th Five-Year Plan and the layout of the 14th Five-Year Plan. It is also the key year for the university to apply for the Right of Doctoral Degree Conferring and accept the fifth round of China Discipline Ranking (CDR). The development of the school require joint efforts of teachers and students, as well as support of alumni. He hoped to work hard with the teachers, students, and alumni to create a brilliant future. At the same time, Ma Wanqing also informed the alumni of XPU’s key tasks in 2020. He expressed heartfelt thanks to alumni who generously donated epidemic prevention supplies for XPU to fight the pandemic. He emphasized that the next five years would be the most critical period for the development of XPU. He sincerely hoped that alumni in Hangzhou Bay area would give full play to their resource superiority, gather all forces and continue to support the development of their alma mater. He also believe that the Hangzhou Bay Alumni Association would really act as the bond between alumni and their alma mater, a home for emotional exchanges and a platform for business cooperation.

Subsequently, Ding Jianjun, general manager of Hangzhou Hotniu E-commerce Group and a Industry and Trade program alumnus in class of 1997, released the alumni exchange online platform and gave a detailed introduction. At the meeting, the ceremony of ECT Testing Group Shaoxing Workstation licensing the Institute for opening was held. Hao Zhendong, Executive President of Keqiao Textile Industry Innovation Research Institute and a Weaving specialty alumnus in class of 1980, introduced the operation condition of the Institute. Finally, the conference also presented awards to two alumni of the Hangzhou Bay Alumni Association who have made outstanding contributions to the alumni related work in recent years: Jin Guangxi, a Wool Spinning program student in class of 1979 and Wang Maorong, a Management specialty schoolfellow in class of 1986.

The high-end forum started at 1:30 p.m. First of all, Zhou Zhigang delivered a speech on behalf of the local government. He welcomed the present alumni of XPU, and expressed his expectation that the alumni of XPU should keep their Alma mater in mind and work together to enhance the development of China's textile industry and Keqiao’s economy and society. Afterwards, Ma Bin gave a speech. She introduced the development history and related policies of China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CASME) and said that the CASME will support the development of alumni enterprises of XPU in the future. The forum also invited Professor Jiang Ping from the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC (National Academy of Governance) to give a report titled “Macroeconomic Analysis and Corporate Response in the Post-epidemic Era”. Xuanyuan Jianwei, President of the New Era Alumni Economy Research Institute, was invited to give a report entitled “From the return of alumni 1.0 to the construction of the alumni economy 2.0 system”. Guo Zhiming, Executive Chairman of Ningbo Intelligent Manufacturing Association and a Textile Machinery program alumnus in class of 1979, gave a report entitled “How to Lead the World with Intelligent Manufacturing”. In addition, Chairman Dong Li of the Board of Directors of Leoch International Technology Limited and a Wool Spinning major schoolfellow in class of 2019 made a report entitled “Organization and Management”. And Zhu Linyu, General Manager of MU Big Data Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. and an Industry and Trade specialty alumnus in class of 1997 was invited to give a report entitled “Ten Years of MU—The Digital Journey of the Three Empowerment of Clothing”

The forum was rich in content, covering fields such as China’s economic development, alumni economy, high-tech research and development, enterprise organization and management, and textile and apparel supply chain management and so on in the post-epidemic era. Alumni expressed that they were deeply inspired and benefited a lot.

The 2020 Shaoxing Annual Meeting of Hangzhou Bay Alumni Association was broadcast live online through WeChat applet, watched by nearly 1,000 alumni, teachers and students.
