Recently, the results of the 4th Hong Kong Contemporary Design Award, led by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, co-sponsored by the Hong Kong Art and Design Association and the Hong Kong Academy of Fine Arts, and hosted by the Hong Kong Style Publishing Group, were announced. Under the guidance of Wu Tie and Zhao Su from the School of New Media Arts of XPU, Zhang Rui, Cao Ziyi, Gao Yongzhong and Pu Yonghua, students majoring in TV Editing and Directing of 2020, won the bronze in Mainland China of the Hong Kong Contemporary Design Awards for their original documentary Yuan Ye.
Yuan Ye, directed by Zhang Rui, was filmed in Zhangjiatun, Xianyang, Shaanxi province. The film focuses on the homesickness of the young who have left their hometown. During the filming, the team was fearless in the face of the severe epidemic, overcame many difficulties and insisted on using images to convey truth, goodness and beauty. Finally, they successfully completed the creation.
"Hong Kong Contemporary Design Awards" is an international high-level art and design award, which solicits contributions for competitions in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, aiming at improving the overall level of artistic creation through the exchange of artists in various regions.
The students’ work winning the Bronze Award fully demonstrates their innovation. XPU will continue to help students to innovate and create more outstanding works.
