On the morning of October 12th, the 2018 International Youth Film Academic Conference of the 5th Silk Road International Film Festival came to an end in the Xifang Engineering Hall of XPU. Chairman of the National Art Committee of Pakistan, Jamal Sha; and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Zhao Xiaofeng; Chief Accountant, Tian Jingpeng; Dean of School of New Media Arts, Prof. Ma Dong; Party Secretary, Zuo Zhifeng and XPU’S teachers and students attended the closing ceremony.
This year’s International Youth Directors Academic Exchange featured works by 58 young directors from 12 countries. The four-day exhibition and academic exchanges were very lively. The young directors at the conference expressed that this trip was very rewarding. They were very grateful to this conference for giving them the opportunity to meet in beautiful Xi’an.
At the closing ceremony, Prof. An Bingze from the University of Perak, Korea, and Dr. Stewart Mick Brantney, a Ph.D. and director from Newcastle University, Australia, entitled "Meeting Xi'an in Seoul" and "Movies Connecting the World" Keynote speech.
At the closing ceremony, the host and the guest exchanged gifts to express their heartfelt gratitude and sincere friendship. Zhao Xiaofeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of XPU, was entrusted by Liu Jiangnan to present his Chinese calligraphy and paintings to Mr. Jamal Shah, Chairman of the National Arts Council of Pakistan. Mr. Ayjaz Gul, a Pakistani expert, and Mr. Jamal Hull, the young director, presented their joint book “The Tour of Pakistan Films” to Prof. Ma Dong. The students of XPU also presented the group fans with Chinese traditional culture characteristics to the directors of the conference. On the fans, there were hand-painted XPU campus landmarks and logo seal of the International Youth Directors Academic Exchange.
Zhao Xiaofeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of XPU, said in the closing ceremony that the exchange let everyone deeply to feel the infinite charm and vitality of film art, and deeply to feel the vibrant and infinite potential of a young filmmaker.This exchange meeting established a platform for XPU to communicate with other brothers universities, and also had a positive impact on the construction and development of the school’s film and television disciplines. Xi’an is marching towards an international metropolis, taking a film as a bridge, telling a good story about China, and communicating with the world. It is an effective way to develop culture, improve the level of cultural industry, and harmony and common prosperity way with international advanced culture. This is consistent with the original intention of XPU to hold an International Youth Directors Academic Exchange Meeting.
After the ceremony, everyone is looking forward to seeing each other at the next International Youth Directors Academic Exchange.
