On the morning of October 9th, 2018, The Fifth Silk Road International Film Festival 2018 International Young Directors Festival jointly organized by XPU, Xi’an Qujiang Film and Television Investment Co., Ltd. and Contemporary Filmmagazine. The opening ceremony was held at W Hotel in Xi’an. Liu Jiangnan, Director of XPU University Administrative Committee, President Gao Ling and Chief Accountant Tian Jingpeng attended the opening ceremony. More than 300 young directors, university scholars and teachers from 12 countries along the Silk Road including Pakistan, Iran and Nepal attended the opening ceremony. Professor Gao Ling, President of XPU, Ms. Sun Xianghui, Director of the Editorial Board of Contemporary Film Magazine, and Prof. Ma Dong, Dean of the School of New Media Art delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Gao Ling, President of XPU, said that this festival is not only an open platform for demonstrating the academic development level of world cinema, but also of great significance for further optimizing the allocation of world film resources, incubating film works, and promoting film and television art education in colleges and universities.The exchanges of creative ideas and interacts and deepens the broad stage of friendship.”
The 2018 International Young Directors Festival was held from October 9th to 12th. 58 young film directors and producers from 12 countries around the world will present their own works and conduct full interactions and exchanges. At the same time, famous university experts and scholars from Pakistan, Japan, Iran, the Netherlands and China made keynote speeches at the conference to discuss the exchange and cooperation between young director film production and world film. Xi'an is the starting point of the Silk Road, from which contemporary Chinese movies go to the world. Based on the theme of New Silk Road, New Youth and New Movies, this exchange will bring together young film directors from countries along the Silk Roadto build a bridge between Chinese and Western film culture.
