On September 1st, 2020, XPU was nominated for Shaanxi provincial base of fine Chinese traditional culture.
The “Tang Dynasty Costume Culture” base in XPU was established on the basis of Xi’an regional cultural resources and XPU textile and apparel specialty as well as combining with the platform advantages of the Fashion Culture Creative Industrial Park. XPU has constantly innovated new ideas and methods for universities to carry forward the excellent Chinese traditional culture in the new era, to give full play to the advantages and functions of universities’ cultural inheritance and innovation, and to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding Chinese traditional culture.
Not only is the Tang Dynasty’s costume culture the important carrier of fine Chinese traditional culture, but also contains the cultural gene and spiritual connotation of the most powerful period of Chinese ancient society. For a long time, XPU has devoted to the inheritance and innovation of the Tang Dynasty’s costume culture, actively setting up a research platform and building a talents team. XPU has also made prominent contributions to the study and exchange of the Tang Dynasty’s costume culture as well as produced a number of academic research fruits, including papers, monographs, research projects, physical restoration works, etc. Therefore, XPU has accumulated rich resources which indicated that it has certain influence. XPU’s “Tang Dynasty Costume Culture” base realizes the inheritance of excellent traditional culture in form and explored the cultural value, technology, innovation and application of Tang Dynasty’s costume in connotation. XPU has enriched the cultural heritage activities by setting up specialized courses, holding specialized lectures, organizing the practice of intangible cultural heritage’s handicrafts, raising student associations, and carrying out thematic exhibitions, etc.
“Tang Dynasty Costume Culture” base of XPU will continue to be built around the curriculum construction, student associations’ construction, workshop construction, scientific research, radiation-driven function and exhibition exchange. XPU will continuously guide students to study the Tang Dynasty’s costume culture, enhance students’ aesthetic appreciation and humanistic quality, cultivate patriotism and national cultural confidence.
