Recently, the closing ceremony of the 13th International College Student Snow Sculpture Competition in 2021 and the Ice and Snow Art Exchange Conference were held in Harbin Engineering University and simultaneously broadcast live online. The work "Anchor of Revolution" designed by Yu Yulong, majoring in environmental design in School of Urban Planning and Municipal Engineering of XPU, won the third prize of design creativity.
The International Snow Sculpture Competition for College Students is hosted by the first-class professional construction collaborative innovation platform for industrial design of the Ministry of Education and undertaken by Harbin Engineering University . The competition has been held for 13 years. During the 13 years, more than 180 colleges and universities from 20 countries and regions including China, Australia, France, South Korea, Portugal, Russia, Thailand, and the UK participated in the competition. In the meantime, more than 6000 Chinese and foreign college students participated in the competition. Over 730 pieces of snow sculpture art works have been created. Due to the impact of the COVID-19, this year’s competition focused on the Snow Sculpture Design and Creation .In the end, 50 outstanding works were selected for the finals.
