On September 29, an innovation and creativity summit forum named “Future Design” opened in the Xifang Lecture Hall of XPU. Future design is not only about design, but also about the future.
The event is jointly organized by China Textile and Apparel Education Society, Xi’an Design Union and XPU. Representatives from Shaanxi Artists Association’s Design Professional Committee, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Communication University of China, Zhejiang University, Tsinghua University, Hunan University, Jiangnan University, China Textile & Apparel Press Co., Ltd., Visual China Group, Art & Design Magazine, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an University of Technology, Xi’an University of Science and Technology, Xi’an Technological University, Northwest A&F University, Xidian University, Shaanxi University of Science & Technology attended the forum. Ji Xiaofeng, Vice President and Secretary-General of China Textile and Apparel Education Society, and XPU President Gao Ling participated in forum’s opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Lv Zhao, Dean of the School of Apparel and Art Design, and the subsequent forums were presided over by Lv Zhao and Tian Baohua, Vice Dean of the School of Apparel and Art Design.
The reason why the innovation and creativity summit forum was chosen to be held in Xi’an is to develop the design industry in the great western development strategy as well as promote the “high-quality development of manufacturing industry in China” and “innovation-driven development” strategies. Not only is the innovation and creativity summit forum beneficial to explore design talent training models and facilitate design discipline construction, but also is helpful to integrate design resources and serve the western construction.
The forum mainly conducted discussions on design fields such as intelligent design, architecture and environmental design as well as the Internet of Everything. It provided experts, scholars, teachers and students in related fields with an exchange platform for sharing research results and advanced technology, understanding academic development, and broadening research ideas.
Ji Xiaofeng, Vice President and Secretary-General of China Textile and Apparel Education Society, and XPU President Gao Ling delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the forum respectively, expressing expectations on design interdisciplinary integration and future development of design. Ji Xiaofeng also expressed his hopes for the future of young people. Gao Ling introduced XPU history to the participants, especially XPU’s development layout of “strengthening textiles, shining Apparel, and improving related disciplines”. He also looked forward to the future development of XPU’s design disciplines. He hoped that the participants will be able to pay attention to the design industry’s development in the western region and assist western region’s construction.
The Professor of Industrial Design, PhD Supervisor of Northwestern Polytechnical University, Chairman of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society Industrial Design Branch, China Industrial Design Association, Shaanxi Mechanical Engineering Association, and Shaanxi Innovation Method Research Association Managing Director Lu Changde gave a presentation about “Intelligent Design and Manufacturing”.
The Art Research Institute Professor, PhD Supervisor, Executive Deputy Dean in Communication University of China, Chief Expert of the National Social Science and Art Fund Project “Research on the Contemporary Inheritance of Chinese Traditional Art” Wang Tingxin talked about future design and design education in the aspect of cultural preparation, lifestyle and way of thinking during his presentation.
The Professor and PhD Supervisor of Zhejiang University, Director of Zhejiang University Modern Industrial Design Institute, Deputy Chairman and Director General of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Association Industrial Design Branch, and Member of the Higher Education Ministry of Education’s Design Teaching Guidance Committee Sun Shouqian gave a presentation about “Core Value and Competitiveness of Design Discipline”.
The Dean of the School of Design and Art in Hunan University, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education’s Industrial Design Teaching Guidance Subcommittee, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education’s Intangible Cultural and Creative Alliance, and the Outstanding Talent of the New Century Ji Tie explained his own understanding about “New Journey, New Engineering and New Design” in his presentation.
The Professor, PhD Supervisor, and Deputy Dean of the School of Fine Arts in Tsinghua University, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education’s Design Teaching Guidance Committee, Vice Chairman of the International Design Federation, the Ministry of Education’s New Century Outstanding Talents, and Top Ten Outstanding Young People in the Chinese Design Industry Zhao Chao gave his presentation about “Design Dimensions for the Construction of New Liberal Arts”.
The Professor and PhD supervisor in Northwestern Polytechnical University, Director of the Industrial Design Institute of Northwestern Polytechnical University, Vice President of China Industrial Design Association, Chairman of the Ministry of Education’s Industrial Design Teaching Guidance Subcommittee, Director of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Key Laboratory of Industrial Design and Ergonomics, Director of Shaanxi Industrial Design Development Center Yu Suihuai gave his presentation about “Industrial Design’s Updates”.
The Secondary Professor and PhD supervisor of the School of Design in Jiangnan University, Deputy Director of the Disciplinary Construction Department, the Ministry of Education’s New Century Outstanding Talents, The Clothing and Apparel Subcommittee Member of the Ministry of Education’s Textile Teaching Guidance Committee, and Executive Director of the Chinese Art Anthropology Association Cui Rongrong gave his presentation about “Craftsmanship, Creation and Fashion”, which provided participants with cutting-edge design vision.
XPU Professor and the Dean Assistant of the School of Apparel and Art Design, Shaanxi “Young Science and Technology Star”, Shaanxi University “Young Outstanding Talents”, Shaanxi University “Interactive Experience of Ancient Capital Costume Simulation and Intelligent Design” Youth Technology Innovation Team Director Liu Kaixuan gave his presentation about “Intelligent Clothing Design”.
